Getting started
Installation
Make sure you have NFC enabled on the phone and an active WIFI/internet connection.
You will find and install the Softpay app from Google Play. If you do not find Softpay app or are restricted from installing the application, contact your IT administrator or your Acquirer.
Login and Select store
To use the app, you need to sign in using the username and password of your account. This login is a one-time process.
- Open the Softpay app.
- Click “Next” on the welcome screens.
- Enter the username and password.
- Selects a store from the list of stores shown on the app, if you have more than one
- The app initializes with the merchant detail.
- Enter amount screen is displayed.
Now the App is ready for receiving payments.
Making payments
Purchase
Used when goods/ services have been paid by credit cards.
How to make a Purchase
- Enter the precise amount for the transaction.
- Click on check mark to continue with the transaction.
- Card shall be placed on the back [the middle or upper section] of the phone. It is safe to remove the card when App shows “Card read successfully.”
- Transaction times out if there is no card is read in 60 seconds.
- On both Success/failure of transaction, reaches Softpay app. Transaction completion screen with details is shown.
Return of goods
Used when the customer has the original receipt and like to return the goods/merchandise.
How to make a Refund
- Select Refund from the Side menu and clear indication of Refund is shown on the screen.
- Enter the precise amount to be refunded.
- Click on check mark to continue with the transaction.
- Biometric authentication shall be provided by Salesperson/ supervisor.
- Card shall be placed on the back [the middle or upper section] of the phone. It is safe to remove the card when App shows “Card read successfully.”
- On both Success/failure of Refund, reaches Softpay app. Transaction completion screen with details is shown.
Reversal / Cancellation
Used when last transaction must be undone/cancelled.
Note: only successful transaction can be reversed.
How to make a Reversal
- Select transaction from the side menu.
- Select the last transaction, Verify the transaction details, and click on reverse.
- Biometric authentication shall be provided by Salesperson/ supervisor.
- On both Success/failure of Reversal, reaches Softpay app. Transaction completion screen with details is shown.
Receipts
Used when Customer requires the Receipts. Salesperson is given option for sending Receipts or continue without sending receipts on transaction completion.
Receipts can be sent to customer’s mail id for Purchase, Refund, Reversal transactions. Receipts can be triggered multiple times.
How to send Receipts
- From the transaction completion screen, Click on Receipt. Or click on OK if you dont need receipts.
- Mail id shall we entered on the space provided and click on OK.
- PDF format of the transaction receipt is sent to the mail.
Payment result and errors

Purchase interrupted | Purchase interrupted due to network, try again after some time |

Incorrect pin | Transaction declined due to wrong pin |
Insufficient funds | Insufficient balance/credit limit reached |
Max limit reached | Transaction rejected due to Contactless limit reached |
Card unknown | Unknown card, Try again with some other card |
Invalid card | Invalid card, Try again with some other card |
Expired card | Card expired, try again with some other card |
See phone | See phone for further processing [or] Enter passcode on mobile & tap again |
Softpay Not ready | Softpay app not ready. Try to force stop the app and try again |
No internet | Re connect to WIFI/Mobile data and try again |
NO NFC | Enable NFC and try again |
Timed out | Issuer not available/Transaction not completed in time |
Administration
You are able to check if there is any new version of Softpay app available on play store.
- Enabled – if there is new Softpay update is available the option would be Enabled. On clicking the option, the app routes to Google play store
- Disabled – If there is no Softpay update is available the option would be disabled.
