Responding to customer feedback for a quicker checkout solution, Coop recognized an opportunity with self-checkout solution to reduce queue times while optimizing staff allocation across their stores.

To rapidly meet the increasing demand for a streamlined checkout experience, Coop adopt an innovative approach using SoftPOS technology to develop Coop’s self-service checkout solution. Coop cooperated with Softpay, an innovative SoftPOS solution, to launch self-checkout as an additional checkout option in their stores. Softpay allows customers to use various payment methods, including Visa, Mastercard, and the popular national card scheme, Dankort.ㅤ

The technical implementation involved deploying Zebra CC6000 enterprise-class tablets as the primary customer-facing self-checkout kiosks. These devices were integrated with Softpay's software to handle payment processing via mobile card readers, eliminating the need for dedicated hardware-based payment terminals. Nets, a key acquirer and payment processor in the Nordic region, provided transaction processing, ensuring compliance and secure handling of payment data.
