We are excited to announce the release of Softpay 3.2.2, now rolling out gradually and expected to reach all users over the coming weeks.

This update introduces an important new feature for hospitality and retail businesses: Dynamic Currency Conversion (DCC), which makes it easier for international customers to pay in their preferred currency at checkout.

Alongside the app update, we are also releasing Appswitch SDK version 1.8.0, bringing the same DCC capabilities to our integration partners.

Softpay 3.2.2 Key Features & Updates

DCC

The Softpay app now supports Dynamic Currency Conversion (DCC), giving foreign cardholders the option to pay in their own currency.

How DCC works

  • When DCC is enabled and a foreign card is tapped:
    • The cardholder is presented with a clear choice between the merchant’s currency (for example, SEK)
    • Or their home currency (for example, EUR)
  • The offer screen shows:
    • the exchange rate
    • any applicable fees
  • The screen is displayed in the cardholder’s language whenever possible, otherwise in English

This ensures full transparency before the payment is confirmed.
Available on standalone apps or apps integrated with Appswitch & Cloudswitch.

Why DCC Matters for Merchants

For international guests and shoppers, Dynamic Currency Conversion removes uncertainty by showing the final amount in a familiar currency, with no surprises later on their bank statement.

For merchants, this means smoother checkouts for foreign customers, clear and upfront pricing that builds trust, and a better first impression that encourages repeat visits, all without adding complexity to daily operations.

By offering transparency and choice at the point of payment, DCC helps turn one-time visitors into loyal customers.

Surcharge

Surcharge now available on standalone apps & Cloudswitch: merchants can now apply surcharge fees on eligible card transactions, regardless of their integration method with Softpay.

Both DCC and Surcharge require acquirer support and agreements. In addition, they may involve extra onboarding steps with Softpay. For more information, contact our support or sales team.
